Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South greeted the newly-elected president Quader Gani Chowdhury, secretary Md Shahidul Islam, and other leaders of Dhaka Union of Journalists (DUJ).
In a statement on Saturday, the city ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul and secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud congratulated the leaders.
The Jamaat leaders said in a joint statement that journalists were always playing a pivotal and glorious role in the cause of national interest.
At present, a suffocating situation exists in the country. Even at this time journalist society is playing a glorious role, they added.
They hoped that the journalists will play an uncompromised role in liberating the nation from the tyranny of the one-party dictatorship by continuing their struggle for democracy in the democratic movement.
