Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam on Sunday said the nation lost one of the pioneers of the Islamic movement due to the death of a senior politician, former Nayeb-e-Ameer of the party, ex-member of parliament, noted religious scholar, social activist and veteran leader Maulana Abdus Subhan.
Former Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and former member of parliament noted religious scholar, social activist and veteran leader Maulana Abdus Subhan died in the prison cell of Dhaka Medical College on last 14 February.
The demise of Maulana Abdus Subhan is an irreparable loss of the nation and also the Islamic movement as he was a unique figure who was able to bring a social reform and showed people the path of perpetual peace and prosperity in the country, he said.
Terming Maulana Abdus Subhan as a martyr, the leader also called upon every activist of the Islamic movement to actively engage in the struggle for establishing the Qur’an in order to finish his unfinished work.
Nayeb-e-Ameer of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Maulana ANM Shamsul Islam addressed at a prayer program as the chief guest at a city auditorium organized by Jamaat Dhaka City South.
The program was chaired by city ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul.
Speaking on the occasion, city ameer Bulbul said Maulana Abdus Subhan was not only a leader of the Pabna district but also a leader of the nation.
Some false allegations were brought against him. Based on the false testimony of the ruling party men, Maulana Subhan was sentenced to death. But being aggrieved of the verdict, Maulana Subhan filed an appeal against the tribunal order which is pending for hearing. Under the circumstances, he responded to the final call of Almighty Allah and took his last breath, he said.
He has struggled throughout his life for establishing truth and justice. He has never compromised. Standing before his dead body, we are making a vow, ‘we will not compromise with the wrongdoers as well, the city ameer Nurul said.
City Nayeb-e-Ameer Munjurul Islam Bhiyan and city secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, among others, were also present at the function.
