Jamaat Dhaka City South protests skyrocketing hike in essential commodities
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South on Thursday today staged a demonstration in the capital to protest the abnormal rise in prices of essential commodities including edible oil.
The demonstration led by Manjurul Islam Bhuiyan, Member of the Central Working Committee Member of Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami and Nayeb-e-Ameer of Dhaka City South, was paraded different city streets starting from the city’s Jatrabari area.
Jamaat Dhaka City South assistant secretaries Advocate Dr. Md. Helal Uddin, Md. Delwar Hossain, Kamal Hossain and Dr. Abdul Mannan, among others, were also present at the protest program.
Speaking at the demonstration, Manjurul Islam Bhuiyan said the government was making a mockery with the people by increasing the price of edible oil when the ordinary people are so angry as a result of rising commodity prices.
This government is an unelected government without a vote and as a result they have no responsibility towards the people, he stated.
He called upon the government to stop making jokes about the suffering of the people by reducing the abnormal prices of essential commodities including edible oil, rice, pulses.
The people will be forced to join the resistance movement against the government if it fails to reduce the abnormal prices of essential commodities including edible oil, rice, pulses.
“The ruling party plans once again arranging a farce election. We want to say, do not push the country towards a difficult situation. Create an environment for free and fair elections in the country by handing over power to a non-partisan caretaker government in line with the expectations of the people”, he said.
He called upon the people to play a strong role in realizing their rights on the streets.
