Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South on Tuesday protested against the abnormal rise in prices of daily essentials in the country.
Ramna Thana of Jamaat Dhaka City South arranged the demonstration in the capital.
It started from the Malibagh-Mouchak intersection of the capital and ended with a protest rally after parading different important streets in the vicinity.
The demonstration was led by city assistant secretary advocate Helal Uddin.
City working committee members Aminur Rahman, shura( council) members Ahsan Habib and Shahin Ahmed Khan, among others, were present at the procession.
Speaking at the event, Advocate Helal Uddin said that the overall prices of essentials have deteriorated due to the indifference and failure of the government.
The prices of daily necessities including rice, pulses, onions, oil have gone beyond the purchasing power of the common people, he stated.
The prices of food and non-food items are increasing day by day, so general people are in deplorable condition, he pointed out.
As the prices of commodities go up, so people are expressing their utmost anger, Dr Helal mentioned.
The government has failed to curb the market, he says.
