Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul urged the city people specially the rich section of the society to come forward with the help and cooperation for the corona affected people amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Terming that Jamaat is a people- oriented and welfare political organization, he said the government announced lockdowns, shutdowns, and so on to protect the people from the pandemic, but did not provide the adequate food for the country’s poor and day laborers, which is contrary to inhuman and fundamental rights.
His call and remarks came at a food distribution ceremony among the Covi-19 victims at two separate places in the capital on Sunday.
The function was arranged by Motijheel Thana branch under Jamaat Dhaka City South.
Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud also was present at the ceremony and distributed food packets among the victims of Covid-19.
Motijheel Thana Ameer Sirajul Islam presided over the food packet distribution function while the city assistant secretary Abdul Jabber was present as the special guest.
Speaking the function as the chief guest, Nurul Islam Bulbul said that the infection rate of coronavirus has multiplied in the country in the second year.
This shutdown or lockdown has enhanced the suffering and distress of especially the low-income people of Dhaka city, he said.
On the one hand, the poor and helpless people of the society are living a miserable life while suffering from hunger, he claimed.
Since its inception, Jamaat-e-Islami has been working relentlessly for the welfare of humanity. In that continuity we are distributing food packets here, Jamaat Dhaka City South chief said.
In addition, Jamaat Dhaka City South has continued its financial and various cooperation programs including free ambulance service, free medical service, free oxygen cylinder supply to serve the common people amid the Covid-19 crisis.
Even if someone benefits in the least, we will think that our work has been successful, he added.
Meanwhile, Jamaat Dhaka City South Kadamtali West Thana Branch also organized another food distribution among the corona victims.
