Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul and Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud have expressed their deep shock at the death of prominent journalist and poet Ahmed Akhtar. He was 62.
Poet Ahmed, who worked at Daily Nayaganta and was a former senior sub-editor of Bangladesh Sangbad Sangstha(BSS), a national news agency, died at a private hospital in the capital while undergoing treatment there at 4:30 pm on Friday.
He left behind wife, one son, one daughter, and host of relatives and well-wishers to mourn his death.
Both the leaders prayed for eternal peace of the departed soul and expressed profound sympathy to the bereaved family members.
His namaz e janaza was held at the National Press Club at 11am on Saturday.
Jamaat-e-Islami Nayeb-e-Ameer and also former MP Professor Mujibur Rahman, Jamaat Dhaka City South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud, Assistant Secretary Advocate. Helal Uddin, among others, were present at the programme.
Bulbul and Dr Masud also urged the family members to be patient and Allah-fearing in this regard.
