Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South recently protested for the delay in the smooth supply of Covid-19 vaccine and setting higher prices of it.
A demonstration and rally led by city secretary Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud were held in the capital’s Motijheel area on Thursday.
City assistant secretary Delwar Hossain, working committee members Abdus Sabur Fakir, Mokarram Hossain Khan, Shamsur Rahman, Abdul Mannan and former Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir president Mubarak Hossain, among others, were present at the function.
Speaking at the rally, Dr. Masud said the current ruling government was running the country unjustly by depriving the people of their fundamental rights to vote.
The government is now pretending to deprive the people of their rights to medical treatment. By destroying state and democratic institutions, the ruling party is now destroying the institutions related to basic rights including medical and health, he insists.
The government is also playing tricks on the lives of the people of the country under the pretext of having relations with the neighboring state, the city secretary blamed.
“From today’s protest rally, we want to say, stop talking about corona vaccine and take quick steps to give free and quality corona vaccine to ensure people’s rights to treatment,” the central working committee member said.
Dr. Shafiqul further said that many countries of the world are inventing corona vaccine, we can collect it from them. Other countries that want to give us the coronavirus vaccine at a lower price. So the government has to make arrangements to accept it.
If the government fails to take such a decision promptly, then it should resign with the responsibility for this failure, he further insists.
He called upon all to play a united role in the struggle for the establishment of the rights of the country’s people.
