Jamaat always stands beside people affected by any disaster in Bangladesh: Dr Masud

Jamaat Dhaka City South distributes relief among flood hit people Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South on Friday distributed food items among over hundreds of flood- hit families in the capital’s Demra thana area.
Jamaat Dhaka City South took the initiative to lessen the sufferings of the flood affected people in flood-hit Rajakhali, Thulthulia and Dhitpur areas of Ward 70 under Demra thana in the capital.
Jamaat Dhaka City South secretary and also central working committee member of the party Dr Shafiqul Islam Masud was present during the relief distribution program and distributed them among some families.
Speaking on the occasion, Dr Masud said Jamaat had stood beside people affected by any disaster including flood in Bangladesh in the past and will continue in the coming days.
He also urged the countrymen to stand by the flood victims and alleged that the government was doing nothing to safeguard the flood-affected people.
The city secretary called on the flood victims to be patient in the face of adversity and prayed to Allah Almighty to help them deal with the situation.
At the same time, he said, the rich section of the society should come forward next to the flood-affected, helpless and hopeless people. Everyone should play a pivotal role in the welfare of the waterlogged people by extending their hand of cooperation irrespective of party affiliation, Dr Masud insists.
The government should list all the flood-affected people in remote areas and stand by them, he pointed out.
Dr. Shafiqul said that with the onset of the rainy season, people are being affected by floods every year due to flooding, unplanned drainage system and mismanagement of the responsible authorities in the country.
The sufferings of the common people will never end without a long-term plan to this end. The main responsibility of the government is to alleviate the sufferings of the flood victims, he again points out.
He also called upon the responsible authorities of the government to take long-term plans and effective initiatives to alleviate the plight and predicament of the flood victims.
The central working committee member Dr Masud also urged all to play a collective role in the establishment for the Islamic welfare state to this end.
Abdus Sabur Fakir, city working committee member, Professor Mokarram Hossain Khan, city working committee member, Kamal Hossain, city working committee member, Demra thana north Ameer Mohammad Ali, Jamaat leaders Mijanur Rahman, Ismail Hossain, Saheb Ali, Omar Ali and Abdur Rahim, among others, also attended the relief distribution program.
Rice, pulses, flour, potatoes, oil, salt, molasses, soap and other essential food items were distributed among the flood-affected families.
