Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul and Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud on Saturday greeted the city people as well as the Muslim Ummah on the occasion of on Eid-ul-Fitr.
In a joint message, the leaders said, “After a month of fasting, the holy Eid-ul-Fitr has come to our door with glad tidings. Eid-ul-Fitr celebrated as the closing ceremony after the end of the month-long fasting. During the holy month of Ramadan that Allah has sent down the Holy Qur’an for the guidance of mankind”.
“Ramadan demands the establishment of an Islamic society based on ‘Taqwa’ in the light of the Holy Qur’an. Only when an Islamic welfare state is established in the form of the state system established by the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) and Khulafa-e-Rashideen or the rightly guided successors, then people will be able to truly enjoy Eid there. Ramadan fasting and the Eid-ul-Fitr inspire us to establish justice and fairness in the society”, they say.
Eid-ul-Fitr is one of the most important festivals for Muslims all over the globe.
The day marks the end of the holy month of Ramadan, in which Muslims observe fast from dusk to dawn. The month-long fasting, which is considered to be one the sternest one, ends on the eve of Eid after sighting the first crescent of the new moon.
They also called for strengthening a greater unity and brotherhood among city people as well as the Muslims Ummah and an oppression, exploitation free society in the Eid greetings by reviving the lesson of Eid-ul-Fitr.
They greeted ‘Eid Mubarak’ to all and prayed to Allah to make sure that all of us should celebrate Eid-ul-Fitr in the beautiful environment and keep the teachings of one of the Muslims’ biggest festivals in real life.
In the message, they prayed for continued peace, progress and prosperity of the city, country and the Muslim Ummah.
Both the leaders in their message extended his greetings and good wishes to the countrymen and all the people in the world on the occasion of the holy Eid-ul-Fitr.
“Eid-ul-Fitr brings the message of happiness and is a joyous occasion for the Muslims. People living in the big cities return to their loved ones in the villages, develop bond of harmony, amity and unity among the people, irrespective of their classes and professions,” they said.
They said the rich and the poor and the elite and the common masses become united on the holy occasion and share the happiness of Eid.
“The both Eid-ul -Fitr and Eid al-Adha are two joyous days for the Muslims Umma. In these two, Muslims forget all the differences, color, jealousy, and hatred, meet each other and go to the Eidgah to perform Salat (prayer).
“Not only Eid-ul-Fitr and Eid -ul Azha entertain us, but the two biggest occasions teach us the differences between people to bind in brotherhood and express harmony and solidarity, and strengthen social bonds,” they said.
Islam is the religion of peace and harmony. There is no place for violence and hatred in Islam. It never supports terrorism and militancy. Islam holds the spirit of human values, mutual coexistence, tolerance towards the views of others, equality and friendship,” they said.
Besides, they said a suffocating situation is prevailing in the country right now as the government is busy with enforced disappearance and killings spree.
They urged the city people and all to be united and forge a movement to restore democracy in the country as the ruling Awami League government has killed the democracy and people’s voting rights by establishing a single-party rule.
They also said that the festival encourages people to offer sacrifice and exterminate social, political, economic inequality and exploitation for the formation of an exploitation-free society by instigating people in the ideals of sacrifice.
Both the leaders said Eid teaches peace, a sense of fellow feeling, and fraternity and brings a message of joy to the people of all walks of life.
They also hoped that Eid-ul-Fitr would bring the message of happiness to all, irrespective of rich and poor.
