Jamaat Dhaka City South organized discussions, prayer program
Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Thursday said the language martyrs of the 1952 Bangla Language Movement would be remembered forever by the nation as they set an example by sacrificing their life for language in the world.
However, our language and culture have been vulnerable as the western aggression is prevalent right now in the country, he said.
Praising youths of the society for their great sacrifice in the 1952 Bangla Language Movement, the country’s youth section contributed a lot to the movement for the establishment of Bangla language as the state language, he further said.
The Jamaat Ameer also called upon all the people of the society to protect the spirit of the language movement through resisting all foreign aggression.
His views came at a discussion and a prayer program on occasion of Language Martyrs’ Day and International Mother Language Day at a city auditorium organized by Jamaat Dhaka City South to pay tribute to the language martyrs.
The city ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul chaired the function.
City nayeb-e-ameer Munjurul Islam Bhiyan, city south assistant secretary advocate Helal Uddin, city south assistant secretary Delwar Hossain and another city south assistant secretary Abdul Jabber, among others, were present at the event.
Speaking at the event as the chief guest, the Jamaat Ameer also expressed his deep respect to the language martyrs and showed his profound sympathy to the families of the martyrs.
The city Jamaat chief Bulbul said the current Awami League government has distorted the history of language movement through devaluing the sacrifices and blood of the language martyrs.
Different organizational thana units of Jamaat Dhaka City South also arranged such events on occasion of the day.
