Jamaat Dhaka City South Ameer Bulbul urged the nation and city people to remain united against the fascist government to make independence meaningful and significant.
Besides, Bulbul has called upon them to play a united role in pressing the demand for voting and fundamental rights against the autocratic and fascist government.
The city Ameer said that the country’s people have not got the benefit of independence so far though we have achieved our independence at the cost of huge sacrifices and through bloodshed.
He came up with the call at a discussion and dua mahfil on occasion of the country’s 49th Independence and National Day held an auditorium in the capital on Monday.
The Dhaka City South chief also chaired the event while Jamaat Dhaka City South Secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud moderated the function.
The leader stated that Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty which was attained at the cost of huge sacrifices became threatened as it adopts fragile and genuflected foreign policy and makes anti-people deal.
“The glorious Independence and National Day is tremendously significant in the context of our national life. Bangladesh has emerged as an independent nation in the global map in 1971 with the cost of our valiant freedom fighters and the sacrifice of the millions of people,” he remarked.
The Jamaat leader bemoaned that even after the 48 years of the country’s independence, the nations is still shouting to restore democracy.
“Now people have no rights to expression. Press freedom has also been snatched. The spirit of establishing democracy with which we’d taken part in the Liberation War is now missing. We all must get united forgetting all trivial misunderstandings and divisions to get back democracy and voting rights,” he said.

The central executive member of the party said that democracy was shattered now while people’s fundamental rights, voting rights and freedom of speech had been seized.
On extremism, he said that people would resist extremism if democracy was allowed to go on its own course and if the government did not use extremism for its political purposes.
The Jamaat leader mentioned that the people of Bangladesh would not compromise on independence and sovereignty.
Nurul urged the people to take vow to this end.
