Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Dhaka City South organized a prayer program for the brave martyrs who gave their lives for the nation on the 48th anniversary of its independence.
The city unit organized the program for them at an auditorium in the capital on Tuesday.
Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud chaired the meeting while the city assistant secretary advocate Helal Uddin moderated the event.
Dr. Masud said in a planned way, the spirit of independence and Islam are being raised against each other that is unacceptable and illogical.
The leader stated that Bangladesh’s independence and sovereignty which was attained at the cost of huge sacrifices became threatened as it adopts fragile and genuflected foreign policy and makes anti-people deal.
“The glorious Independence and National Day is tremendously significant in the context of our national life. Bangladesh has emerged as an independent nation in the global map in 1971 with the cost of our valiant freedom fighters and the sacrifice of the millions of people,” he remarked.
The Jamaat leader bemoaned that even after the 48 years of the country’s independence, the nations is still shouting to restore democracy.
“Now people have no rights to freedom of expression. The press freedom has also been snatched. The spirit of establishing democracy with which we’d taken part in the Liberation War is now missing. We all must get united forgetting all trivial misunderstandings and divisions to get back democracy and voting rights,” he said.
