Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman on Wednesday said the nation is still suffering from the mischief, merciless and brutal attack of the Awami League that started on October 26, 2006, in the country.
He urged the incumbent Awami League government to ensure the exemplary punishment of killers who were involved in the heinous incident of the 28 th October in 2006.
The leader also called upon the government to adopt the path of democracy and good governance and rid the autocratic ruling in the country.
Dr. Shafiq was speaking at the discussion and prayer program on the occasion of remembrance of the martyrs of the 28 th October in 2006 who was killed brutally by the armed- cadres of the ruling Awami League government in the capital Dhaka and across Bangladesh.
Jamaat Dhaka City Ameer Nurul Islam Bulbul chaired the program.
The city secretary Dr. Shafiqul Islam Masud and assistant secretary Abdul Jabber, among others, were present at the discussion.
“28 October 2006 is a black day in the political history of Bangladesh. With due respect, I am recalling those leaders and activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Islami Chhatrashibir, who had sacrificed their lives during the merciless and brutal attack of Awami League hooligans, the Jamaat Ameer said.
On the day, a group of armed terrorists of Awami League attacked the unarmed activists and leaders of Jamaat-Shibir and killed 13 without any reasons and to implement their ill-motive agenda across the country including Dhaka,” he again says.
“The assailants of the Awami League killed six Jamaat-Shibir activists and leaders brutally and like a snake and danced on their bodies. It was a beast-like behavior that they showed on that day,” he added.
He added that thousands of party activists across Bangladesh were injured in the attacks.
“The shameless attacks surprised across the world,” Dr. Shafiq said.
Even the incumbent government withdrew the case that was filed after the incident, he again said.
