Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer Prof. Mujibur Rahman reiterated that there will be no election in the country without a caretaker government.
At the historic grand rally held at Arambagh in the capital, Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami’s Acting Ameer, Prof. Mujibur Rahman, addressed the gathering as the chief guest.
He recalled the tragic events of October 28, 2006, when activists of Jamaat-e-Islami and Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir were killed and attacked by then opposition Awami League leaders and activists with boat-hook and oar ( Logi-Boitha) ruthlessly.
The Jamaat ameer expressed determination to seek justice for the victims but emphasized that vengeance through violence is not the solution.
Prof. Mujibur Rahman pledged to honor the martyrs by establishing democracy and righteous governance in the country.
He asserted that every drop of their blood will not be in vain.
Prof. Mujibur Rahman stated firmly that “Elections in Bangladesh cannot occur without a caretaker government. He vowed to continue the movement to uphold the people’s right to vote”.
He highlighted the demands of the opposition, including the resignation of the government, free and fair elections under a non-partisan caretaker government, the release of arrested opposition leaders and activists, withdrawal of false cases, and making essential goods affordable for the people.
These points were part of the programme announced by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami earlier.
The speech was delivered during a grand gathering organized by Bangladesh Jamaat-e-Islami.
The event was presided over by Central Executive Council Member and Ameer of Dhaka City South, Nurul Islam Bulbul.
Other prominent figures present at the event included Central Nayeb-e- Ameer and former Member of Parliament Dr. Syed Abdullah Mohammad Taher, Central Nayeb-e- Ameer Maulana A.N.M. Shamsul Islam, Acting Secretary General Maulana ATM Masum, Assistant Secretary General and former Member of Parliament AHM Hamidur Rahman Azad, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Abdul Halim, Central President of Bangladesh Islami Chhatrashibir Rajibur Rahman Palash, and other leaders and members of the party.
In his speech, Professor Mujibur Rahman reiterated that there will be no elections in the country without a caretaker government, underscoring the importance of the caretaker system for the electoral process.
He demanded the immediate release of Jamaat-e-Islami Ameer Dr. Shafiqur Rahman, Secretary General Mia Golam Parwar, Assistant Secretary General Maulana Rafiqul Islam Khan, a member of the Central Executive Council, as well as Advocate Matiur Rahman Akand and Salim Uddin, Ameer of Dhaka City North, along with numerous leaders, activists, and Islamic scholars.
